Pattern research shouldn’t just sit on a desktop.

I got myself a micro collection of old vintage military garments.

I’ve been digitalising them.

It got me back into pattern cutting.

I learned a lot.

I could have left it all sitting on a desktop.

Instead, I hit it really hard.

Built an open pattern platform.

Same workflow I use for brands:
engineered pattern, delivered in 3D.
Approved before the factory touches it.

Put the work out open source.

People are downloading the patterns.

It doesn’t make money.

But it builds a lot of credibility.

And it’s a little bit of giving back.

What I learned:

Put the work out.

Rather than it just sitting on a desktop.

Now I’m thinking about taking it to the next level.

How do you keep it open source and still make money from it?
