Welcome! I’m Hugh Clarke, a seasoned Design Leader and Sportswear Innovator with over two decades of experience in the global design industry. My expertise spans performance clothing, footwear, and accessories, where I effortlessly marry cutting-edge technology with the timeless art of craftsmanship. 

Born in the vibrant coastal town of Brighton, the Eighties acid house movement deeply influenced me, the Nineties rave scene, and the independent music culture. These influences, coupled with the distinctive fashion of football terraces, especially the casuals style movement, form the backbone of my design ethos. 

My early days in Brighton saw me delving deep into fashion and music, working in high-profile clothing stores boasting iconic brands like Stone Island and C.P Company. While I may have ‘underperformed’ in school initially, my passion for art took me to Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester Fashion Institute). Here, I pursued a Clothing Design and Technology degree, sharpening my skills and igniting a passion for innovative and functional design. 

I’ve had the privilege to design for brands like the surf and sailing company, Gul. It’s here that my love for regenerating old pieces and emphasizing functionality through innovation truly flourished. 

A significant milestone in my journey was joining sports heavyweight, PUMA. Relocating to Germany, I initially worked in the Teamsports business unit, designing licensed teamwear for esteemed federations and club teams. Later, I transitioned to the Innovation Team, pioneering patent products and pushing the envelope from concept to commercial realization. 

My design philosophy operates at the intersection of Function, Style, and Emotion. With a deep commitment to sustainability, I bridge the physical and digital realms, emphasizing the balance between aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility. 

In today’s era where design and sustainability intersect, I stand at the forefront, committed to guiding the industry towards an eco-friendly future without sidelining performance.
